Help me save the books! URGENT
January 14, 2010There is a private collection in New Jersey that is up for destruction, they have no room to keep them so they are headed for the landfill.
I Cannot stand by and let priceless beautiful books be destroyed!
If any of my readers know of a place to store these books ( they are currently in New Jersey) or know of a library or organization that would could help, let me know!
How I heard about this:
One of the country's leading private collections of antiquarian books,
manuscripts and letters is going to be destroyed next week in Jersey City, NJ. The collections is going to be thrown in garbage bins and taken to the dump for destruction.
The collection is worth about 1 million dollars and includes major
collections of Jack Kerouac, Horatio Alger, Siegfried Sassoon, Charles Reznikoff, George Borrow, Charles Darwin, G.A. Henty, Emma Goldman, Larry Eigner and early American children's books published before 1821 (Welch titles).
So far, I have been unable to find a temporary storage location for
the collection. I am hoping to find someone to help solve this problem over the next few days.
